Nestled at the head of Lake Windermere and surrounded by the majestic Langdale Pikes, it’s the perfect base for anyone wanting to park up and explore the endless hiking trails right on the doorstep.
The village itself is full of charm with shops, cafés, restaurants, bars, and even a miniature golf course for a bit of fun. But the star of the show has to be the famous Bridge House. This tiny 10‑foot‑square building perched over the river has been everything from a family home to a cobbler’s shop, and is now proudly cared for by the National Trust.
Ambleside is around 1 hour 15 minutes from us by car, making it an easy and rewarding day out. With stunning scenery, great food spots, and plenty to explore, it’s a classic Lake District gem that never disappoints 🌿💚
